home visit

The following pictures were taken yesterday between 5.15 to 7pm. Simply decided to take the camera for some practice. I've still got this problem with learning how to focus the foreground and background, and also how to focus on a particular subject within the frame. Anyways, decided to head back to hougang ave 10 where i lived for the past 19 yrs (moved to sengkang start of this yr), to capture random things i rmbr...

This was on of the first few photos i took at ponggol park. I don't personally enjoy taken plants, flowers, nature, etc. Even though its nice and pleasing to the eyes and all, i just think its too much green for me to handle. i really prefer old, dirty, ugly stuff... hmm i wonder why.. =) oh, in the pic, i'm just glad i managed to focus on the flowers.

Concrete spider, fallen leaves...

took this by accident... i like how the shadows seep through the leaves and make the photograph have this dreamy etheral feel..

Just like the fact that the twines grow out so beautifully yet without a care for whatever around which it's 'disturbing'.

This was my parish church before i shifted home. Brings back lots of memories especially since i was dragged here since young, and gone through 1st holy communion and confirmation. really grown to love the security and comfort the place gives..

Main entrance of the Nativity Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The sky's perfect. was about to rain but i'm glad i captured the colour as it were. gives it a very somber yet grand feeling to it.

One of the guardian angels at corner entrance.

ok, so while i was walking out of the church compound, i saw this row of chairs somewhat neatly arranged in a line. It was kinda strange that it was placed so nicely. maybe they used it as a parking lot marker, i don't know, but just thought it was so amusing!

... i also came across this chair placed again a wall. really liked the vibrant colour and felt it would work well with the colourful balloons in the background (there was a carnival here last week). Ya, but the angle of the photo just doesn't seem to right...

And last but not least.. this is for you Cornelius! Glad to have met you in church, again. and that you shared your passion with me. Cheers...

Assignment 1: Photogram

Experimenting with Religion

i like this one, n may probably choose this as my final piece. I went, "cool..." when i saw this. it justs makes people look closer... i like the fact that there seems to be something deeper (a real 3D effect). And as i look longer, i seem to find myself falling deeper into the frame. i dunno, i just feel so, n hope it gives others that feeling too...

3 Crosses

other random things i did with my cross necklaces...

My Last Supper

I got this idea when i was looking at the altar from the dining room, while i was having dinner. And the plague, with the last supper scene on it, just caught my attention. It just seemed quite funny in a way, that if i should use the plague for a plate, it brings the act of having a simple supper to a whole different level.

Self Assessment
I wasn't very pleased with this piece of work coz i think i didn't put in too much creativity into it. It looks too 'straight'. I did put thought into this, but maybe too much. And frankly, i think the execution part just was yuckie. I didn't know how to do the whole positive and negative film thingy, hence this result. The shadow's created from the inability to shut the scanner lid, allowing lights to escape inside.

the good thing about it though is that i'm really glad it expresses how i feel about religion and death. I shan't elaborate much but just some questions that came across my mind when constructing this piece.

Just some food for thought for those who have a religion.Does it take the remaining moments of your life for you to realise how much you need Someone higher to receive you when you go?

I think of myself... having my last supper... hopefully in the presence of God.

'POP'corn Supper

haha.. these are the pop art versions after i learnt to use the positive and negative film functions in the scanner. quite nice n simple!

changed template

ok, realised that the template and layout for a photography blog should be kept simple afterall, hence the change.

got started

O Right! finally got this blog going.... found this really cheeky skin about spreading my 'wings' to fly... hmm =) after tinkering with all the html stuff... finally got it all customized for myself. sometimes its really damn irritating to sieve out all the coding stuff, but when it finally turns out niceee... the feeling's so gd!~

OMG! n donovan was so nice to lend me his Nikon D40. i think it should be alright to use... the shitty thing was that i thought i wouldn't be able to get a camera to use for this mod, so i was already prepared to drop this =( appealed to admin to take cybercrime instead. n they immediately gave me cybercrime, n dropped me from photog. hu would have known that the very next moment, Don replied from taiwan saying he'll gladly lend it to me till end of nov! awesomeness... BUT now, i have to find a way to get myself back into nm3223. this sux...

eitherwaes, can't wait to start takin pics... gonna burn a hole in my pocket again this sem (2208 was a killer) but it was real good fun =) so exciting! LA LALA LALA LALA...
